Just a few minutes ago ESL announced that they will try to sink (even further) the already going down country of England with their next Major – ESL One Birmingham 2018. This is not only the first ESL Dota 2 tournament hosted in the UK but the first ever Major tournament hosted in the country. Watch the announcement video below:

The tournament will take place in Arena Birmingham between 23th and 27th of May and will feature the following:

  • 1$ million prize pool
  • 1500 DPC
  • A total of 12 teams competing
  • Six direct invites
  • Six teams from regional qualifiers: North America, South America, China, Europe, CIS, Southeast Asia

The qualifiers:

  • Open qualifier dates (for all regions): April 14-15
  • Closed qualifier dates (for all regions): April 19-22

For anyone out there interested in attending the event, the Tickets go live on March 15 at 11:00 GMT / 12:00 CET and once more we will be able to choose between Day, Weekend, Weekend Plus and Premium.

This is HUGE news for the pretty much non-existent UK scene, as it presents a great opportunity for exposure. If you are not living in Birmingham and you plan on going to the event be ready to reach deep into your pockets as a double room will cost at least 40 pounds per person/per night and also be aware that the public transport in the UK is one of the most expensive worldwide.
